Education

Aaron received graduate degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Edinburgh with specializations in Strategy, Innovation and Emerging Markets. He also holds a BBus in Economics and Finance from RMIT University, Australia. 

Aaron’s an island boy from Singapore, a passionate scuba diver, amateur kite surfer and gamer. He’s also fascinated by the world’s cultures and their origins and has been lucky to live and work across the world (Africa, Asia, Australia and North America).

Aaron leads emerging market and fintech investments at DCG with a mission to enhance the world’s financial systems. He holds the belief that when cutting edge technology is applied to accessible, contextually tailored financial solutions, especially in emerging markets - exponential value is unlocked for both individuals and businesses, enabling them to scale and thrive. 

Previously, he served as a Partner at the Catalyst Fund, a pre-seed fund and accelerator, backing category champions in fintech and climatetech across Africa, LATAM and Asia including Cowrywise, Lami, Kwara, Graviti, FarMart and Octavia Carbon. He was also the Managing Director for MEST, Africa’s largest pre-seed fund and incubator with 90+ companies in their portfolio, and began his venture career as Managing Partner for Africa at Nest.vc, a seed fund and corporate accelerator - leading partner programs with Visa, MTN and Barclays in Africa and DBS, AIA, Infiniti in Asia. 

Aaron is also a co-founder of several ecosystem strengthening initiatives including Venture for Africa, a talent platform for product, finance, marketing and operations professionals to launch careers with startups in Africa and the Obuntu Foundation, a 501c3 dedicated to the growth of operator led, emerging VCs in Africa. 

He has also co-founded a number of tech companies including Lompang, a motorcycle ride-sharing startup and Verso Digital, an insurtech focused digital studio with clients including Prudential Insurance, FWD and Fullerton Health. 

Aaron began his career in financial services, spending time at Societe Generale and Standard Chartered in product, marketing and operations functions based in Europe, Asia and Africa.
