Jessica earned a BA in English from Davidson College and an MBA in Design Strategy from the California College of the Arts, where she was a Graduate Merit Scholar and recipient of the Graduate Chair Award.

Professional

Jessica is founder of Jessica Straus Fuchs Consulting LLC, focusing on marketing, PR, and growth for early-stage companies, investors, and nonprofits. Formerly Chief Operating Officer at Poppy, an e-commerce brand selling wedding flowers. Previously, Jessica was Director of Emerging Funds Strategy at Carta, a fintech company serving the private markets, where she leads content products, Carta Ventures fund investments into first-time venture funds, and brand marketing for emerging venture capital funds. Jessica has spent the past decade working in venture capital at Dundee Venture Capital as a Venture Partner, at GE Ventures as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and at the National Venture Capital Association as VP of Development. She started her career in tech in 2013 at SocialFlow, a venture-backed social media SaaS platform based in New York. Jessica spent the early part of her career as a U.S. Congressional staffer. She serves on the advisory boards of Tribal Credit, a credit card for SMEs, Poppy, the Hurt Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Davidson College, and the Women’s Associate of Venture and Equity. Jessica speaks Spanish with professional working proficiency, and resides in San Francisco with her husband Dan and their dog Willie.

Fellowship

A member of Class 22, Jessica began her fellowship at NVCA and completed it at GE Ventures. Her mentor was Kate Mitchell (Mentor Class 21), Co-Founder and Partner of Scale Venture Partners, former NVCA board chair, and founding co-chair of the NVCA Diversity Task Force.
