Education

Amit holds a Bachelor's degree with a major in computers from Mumbai University, India. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Post Graduate Program at the prestigious National Center for Software Technology, an autonomous society involved in research and development under the administrative purview of the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India.

Amit Anand is the Founding Partner & Managing Director of Jungle Ventures. 

 

Amit has spent 25 years in South and Southeast Asia as a pioneer and leader in the development of the region's venture capital and technology industry. He served as the Vice Chairman of Business Angels Network of Southeast Asia (BANSEA), the oldest and largest angel investment network in Asia.

Under his leadership, Jungle has grown to manage over $1B in assets, a 100-fold increase in the last decade since inception.

Amit has worked with over a hundred founding teams from markets such as India, Indonesia and Vietnam, and played a pivotal role in sourcing and mentoring the firm’s first four unicorns — Moglix, Kredivo Group, Livspace and Builder.ai — to become regional and global category leaders in software and consumer sectors. He has also successfully led the exits of earlier portfolio companies, including Travelmob (exit to HomeAway), Zipdial (exit to Twitter), and TradeGecko (exit to Intuit).

Previously, Amit held executive positions in sales and business development at Progress Software ($1.6B NASDAQ-listed software giant), Elipva (STT Communications-backed, acquired by Hong Kong listed company) and earlier at Tata Infotech Ltd, India (acquired by TCS for ~$259M). He also founded Ettamina Studios, an animation studio based in Singapore & India.

Amit is a Aspen Finance Leadership Fellow, the first from the venture capital community in Singapore and the India & Southeast Asia region to be selected. He is also the first Kauffman Fellow from the region. Amit has served as a member of Singapore Government’s Advisory Council on the Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence and Data.
