Amy Chen
Amy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Nanjing University and an MA in Media, Culture, and Communication (MCC) from New York University. She is a CAIA charter holder and a Milken Young Leader.
Currently, Amy serves as Executive Director of the Board at Apollo Future Mobility Group LTE (860:HK). She isa member of the Investment Committee and the Chairwoman of the Corporate Governance Committee. Apollo Future Mobility Group Ltd is an investment holding company that mainly provides smart mobility services and automotive technology solutions.
Amy is also a Venture Partner at VHM Ventures. She is responsible for the firm's fundraising and strategic partnership efforts. VHM Ventures invests in biomedical breakthroughs that change the world of medicine, around the convergence of pharmaceuticals, devices, and technology. Our team formed VHM Ventures to mobilize capital into those opportunities when they are about to enter a major inflection point.
Previously, she served as Director of Global Partnerships of a med-tech startup Bria Medical, a cutting-edge transdermal drug delivery system with a robust product pipeline. Her role is to help Bria's global expansion as well as its fundraising effort. Earlier, she was the Managing Director of Alpha Square Group, and led the firm's investment development department, designing asset allocation strategy, sourcing opportunities in all asset classes with a strong focus on VC/PE, and forming long-term strategic partnerships globally for the firm. She also assembles and manages the firm's venture partners, outside experts, and advisor network.
Amy has backed companies in med-tech, retail-tech, Internet services, and FinTech. These investments include SoFi, an online personal finance company, and online bank; Figure, a FinTech company with the mission of leveraging blockchain AI to unlock new access points for consumer credit products; and Rani Therapeutics, a disruptive technology for the oral delivery of biologics.
A media professional by training, Amy spent four years working at international TV stations as an on-air personality, covering business and political news. Before her TV career, she worked for the United Nations in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Support Unit (formerly known as the Millennium Development Goals Support Unit).
As a member of Class 24, Amy is serving her fellowship at Alpha Square Group under the mentorship of Alex Crisses, Managing Director, Global Head of New Investment Sourcing & Co-Head of Emerging Growth of General Atlantic, and Robert Chiu, Vice Chairman for Asia of Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
