Brett Morris
Brett graduated from The University of Kansas and is a CFA Charterholder. Prior to KU, Brett attended Drake University where he played for the men's varsity basketball team.
Brett serves on the Emerging Leaders Council for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater KC and on the advisory board for the Blue Valley Center for Advanced Professional Studies. He provides mentorship to various accelerator programs and was recognized as one of the Kansas City Business Journal's NextGen Leaders in 2019.
Brett lives in the Kansas City metro area with his wife and three children. He enjoys working out, coaching his kids' sports teams, and reading about carbon removal and human longevity technologies.
Brett is a Managing Director at Cavallo Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Wilbur-Ellis, a $3.5B privately-owned business. He helps lead investments across agriculture, food, and climate, and serves as a Board Director or Observer to several startups.
Prior to Cavallo, Brett worked for TechAccel, a venture development organization where he led or was involved with several early-stage investments such as Sound Agriculture, Greenlight Bio (GRNA), and Benson Hill (BHIL). Additionally, Brett helped incubate and run two companies including Covenant Animal Health Partners (interest acquired by NovaQuest Capital Management) and RNAissance Ag, an Ag biotech startup developing environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical pesticides.
Previously, Brett worked in M&A and corporate strategy for a commodity trading and handling company dealing in agriculture and energy products and held various financial roles at other firms.
