Brock Saunders
Brock attended the University of Virginia where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in both government and history and served as one of three representatives from the college on the Honor Committee.
Brock is passionate about a number of Richmond-based charities including the Saunders Family Foundation. When he's not obsessively talking about companies or playing squash and golf, Brock can be found playing with his kids (Gigi and Lyon) and enjoying time with his wife, Alexandra.
With experience in public and private markets, Brock's career spans a range of investing roles across both the buy- and sell-sides, and in capacities as a limited and general partner. Brock is the Founding Partner of Summit Action, a Richmond, Virginia-based venture capital firm working with passionate founders using technology to offer a best-in-class customer experience. The firm is industry and stage agnostic with investments including Clover and Ready Responders (healthcare), Ometria (SaaS), Thrive Market (food), and West Creek (Fintech). Brock sits on the board of directors at Dig Inn, Moxe Health, Ometria, Triplemint and West Creek.
Brock also acts as Managing Director at James River Capital Corp., a family office investing in a diverse set of alternative investments. Prior to pursuing venture capital full-time, Brock was a Partner at Pleasant Lake Partners, a New York-based hedge fund. Brock started his career at Citigroup in New York as a high-yield credit analyst, later moving to the firm's proprietary trading business where he ultimately served as the Global Head of Equity Trading in London.
As an active angel investor for the past decade, Brock invested in companies such as Berkeley Lights, Boll & Branch, Brex, Coupang, Dig Inn, Discord, Harry's, KeepTruckin, Lola, NetSpeed Systems, Robinhood, Robyn, Samsara and Viz.
