Conrad Shang

Conrad holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Conrad also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Honors and Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin. He currently lives in Austin, TX with his wife and their young daughter.

As a founder of Ensemble VC, Conrad has built a successful investment career across top tier institutions in venture capital. His institutional training has always been focused on supporting entrepreneurs as they build industry-defining businesses. Prior to founding Ensemble VC, Conrad was the Head of VC investing at the UTIMCO endowment, managing a $3B VC portfolio at one of the largest endowments in the US. Conrad invested in many of the highest performing VC funds globally, and also led direct investments in Techstars, Rover (NASDAQ: ROVR), Aqua Security, and Salsify.

Prior to UTIMCO, Conrad was an investor at Norwest Venture Partners (NVP), a venture capital firm based in the Bay Area, with $6 billion under management. Conrad led the firm’s investments in Casper (NYSE: CSPR), Udemy (NASDAQ:UDMY), STRATIM (acquired by KAR), Good.Co (acquired by StepStone GmbH), and others. Prior to NVP, Conrad was a product manager at Yammer, a leading enterprise social network acquired by Microsoft ($1.2B) and also an investor at Bain Capital Ventures. Earlier in his career, Conrad was a management consultant at Bain & Company. Conrad holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is also a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
