Daniel Abelon
Dan holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He received his BA in economics and philosophy from Columbia University, where he cofounded the Columbia Entrepreneurship Club and grew an advertising business through the university's incubator.
Dan loves to travel, and has worked in international development as a volunteer in various countries, including Ghana, Thailand, and Ukraine. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the keytar, composing digital music, skiing, and biking. Dan serves as an Endeavor Expert, mentoring entrepreneurs in the developing world, and is a member of the Manhattan chapter of YPO.
Dan joined Two Sigma Ventures in 2015 and focuses his time investing in data-driven enterprise and consumer startups.
Before joining Two Sigma, Dan was an entrepreneur as well as an investor in areas such as data science, healthcare IT, and IoT. Previously, Dan co-founded SpeedDate (acquired by IAC), a live-video online dating service that used real-time matching algorithms to connect its 23 million members. Dan is very familiar with the roller coaster ride that most founders experience during their startup journeys. Earlier in his career, worked at IBM, Lazard’s Technology M&A Group, and briefly at the World Bank in the Philippines researching investments in both technology and bamboo processing. Dan started his career as founder of the Campus Pages, a phone directory publishing business. Dan holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Columbia.
In his spare time, Dan enjoys Citibiking, playing keytar, mentoring founders in emerging markets, and working to increase voter turnout in the United States. He is a Kauffman Fellow and a member of YPO.
