Jeffrey Stein

Jeff conducted his postdoctoral studies as an Alexander Hollaender Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow at CalTech and his PhD work as a NASA Graduate Student Researchers Fellow at UCSD's Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from California State University at Long Beach.

Jeff has been the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Cidara Therapeutics since 2014. He currently serves on the board of directors of Paratek Pharmaceuticals (PRTK) and Ideaya Biosciences (IDYA) as well as on the board of managers for Life Science Cares San Diego. Prior to joining Cidara, Jeff was Chief Executive Officer of Trius Therapeutics from its founding in 2007 until its acquisition by Cubist Pharmaceuticals in September 2013. He is also founding Chairman and President of the Antibiotics Working Group, an industry leading 501(c)(6) organization. Previously, Jeff was a Venture Partner and Kauffman Fellow with Sofinnova Ventures and opened the firm's San Diego office in 2005. Prior to joining Sofinnova Ventures, Jeff was co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Quorex Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in 2005. He has also served as a Principal Scientist with Diversa Corporation and the Agouron Institute. Jeff conducted his postdoctoral research as an Alexander Hollaender Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow at the California Institute of Technology and his graduate work as a NASA Graduate Student Researcher Fellow at the University of California, San Diego.

A member of Fellows Class 10, Jeff served his fellowship under mentor Mike Powell at Sofinnova Ventures in San Francisco.
