Jonathan Charles
JC holds both an MBA and an MHA from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He also holds a joint MS degree from the Carnegie Mellon Schools of Computer Science and Business and has completed an MPH from the Tulane School of Public Health. His undergraduate studies in life sciences were completed at Loyola Marymount, a Jesuit university in Los Angeles.
JC is a Director at the Samsung Catalyst Fund, an evergreen $100M early-stage fund with offices in Silicon Valley, London, Tel Aviv, and Seoul. Investments are strategic and tied to various Samsung initiatives in the IoT, autonomous and connected car, digital health, robotics, semis and cloud infrastructure sectors.
At Catalyst Fund's Silicon Valley office, JC works on all aspects of the venture capital process, including investment thesis development, deal sourcing, negotiations, due diligence, and various portfolio management activities. Jonathan is also heavily involved in the development of licensing and commercial agreements, where he works closely with founders and Samsung product teams.
A member of Class 21, JC served his fellowship at the Samsung Catalyst Fund under the mentorship of Richard Irving. Richard serves as an independent Venture Advisor to the fund, and is a Founding Managing Partner at POND Ventures in the United Kingdom.
