Karel Obluk

Karel holds a doctorate and a Master's degree in computer science from the Brno University of Technology, Czech republic. Karel's native language is Czech; he is fluent in English and Slovak and can also speak German, Russian, and limited French.

Karel is a general partner at Evolution Equity Partners, a growth-stage international investor leveraging deep sector expertise to help exceptional entrepreneurs develop market-leading companies with global reach. Evolution invests primarily in the US and Europe in the information security, enterprise software and solutions, and consumer internet sectors. Karel is primarily based in the Czech Republic, covering continental Europe and the UK. He has been involved with several companies' boards of directors, primarily from the IT security space, including Cognitive Security (acquired by Cisco), DFLabs or Logpoint. Karel is a seasoned executive and investor with strong IT background, with experience in top management positions. Over the past decade, he helped to grow one of the most successful anti-virus companies, AVG Technologies, which is now publicly listed (NYSE:AVGT). As an acting CEO and CTO, he proved not only his technical but also managerial and business skills.

Karel is a member of Class 19. He performed his fellowship at the Evolution Equity Partners under the mentorship of Richard Seewald (Class 16).
