Marell Evans

Marell graduated from the University of Michigan, where he played football, starting two full seasons as an outside linebacker and winning student-athlete of the year in 2011. Marell, enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. He remains highly active working out, swimming, running, and weight lifting.

Marell Evans is the Founder and Managing Director of Exceptional Capital, which invests in pre-seed to seed-stage B2B focused startups. The primary areas of the fund thesis include SaaS, Cybersecurity, FinTech, Web3|Blockchain, and discipline startups with recurring revenue and clear monetization models.

Prior to founding Exceptional Capital Marell served as a Vice President at SoftBank working across various funds from robotics to investing in minority founders. Throughout Marell's time at Softbank, he co-led investments for Quicknode, Vitable, Squire, Accel Robotics, Bear Robotics and Afriex. Prior to joining SoftBank Marell managed high-performing sales teams at IBM, and was an imperative member of the revenue team at Okta, and served as Operating Partner at San Francisco's top family office where he co-managed a portfolio of $100MM.
