Education

Matt hails from Hutchinson, MN, a small rural town outside of Minneapolis. He graduated with honors from the University of North Dakota (one of the top aviation universities in the world), where he completed two degrees and earned his pilot’s license. During his time he also helped to form, and later served as president/managing director for, the Dakota Venture Group - the first ever student-managed venture fund.

Driven by personal experience and seeking to make a difference, Matt made his way to Silicon Valley and into the digital health industry, where his founder experience led him through the NSF-sponsored Lean Launchpad for Life Sciences at UCSF, UC Berkeley’s SkyDeck, and the Texas Medical Center’s TMCx program. He is an active angel/advisor/board member, as well as an amateur pilot, overconfident ice hockey player, and an avid musician.

Professional

A founder/operator at heart, Matt is a partner at WVV Capital. WVV is a 100M early-stage venture fund backed by four major corporations, and its hybrid structure allows the team to make strategic investments while still serving startups with the agility of a traditional fund. Matt currently serves on the boards of Blueberry, Bend Health, and Posterity, and his investing focuses primarily on AI, digital health, finTech/insureTech, and climateTech.

Matt is a cross-industry serial founder, most recently building Stroll Health — a Silicon Valley digital health company that used machine learning to reverse-engineer healthcare pricing models in order to help patients and providers to find affordable in-network care.  They exited to eviCore, which was acquired by Cigna (NYSE: CI) where Matt went on to serve as Senior Director. Matt is also a recipient of the Alan K. Ruvelson Fellowship, and is a graduate of the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences.
