Megan Ruan
Megan is a first generation Chinese American born and raised in Arden Hills, Minnesota. After spending her first 18 years in the Midwest, Megan has been a coastal ping pong ball, splitting her last decade between New York City, New Haven, and the Bay Area. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University and her MBA at Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is a passionate advocate for creating spaces where underrepresented voices can thrive and unwaveringly believes in the power of cultural affinity to promote unity and economic success.
Megan loves travel, books, food, and music, and is based in New York City where you can find her dancing at concerts in Brooklyn, running along the West Side Highway, and spending far too much time trying to score impossible dinner reservations on Resy.
Megan Ruan is co-founder and General Partner at Gold House Ventures, the first venture fund in North America built to invest exclusively in startups founded by Asians and Pacific Islanders (APIs). Gold House Ventures is the venture arm of Gold House, a nonprofit founded to elevate APIs through cultural unity, investment opportunities, and promotion. Megan principally built Gold House’s founder and investor networks, respectively the leading networks of Asian Pacific entrepreneurs (55% identifying as female) and early-stage investors (300+ Partner-level institutional VCs) in North America. \n
Prior to launching Gold House Ventures, Megan launched the Gold House Ventures Accelerator, a biannual incubation program for API founders and the only venture-backed startup accelerator in the US with programming specifically tailored for API entrepreneurs. The program’s 115 alumni since 2020 have collectively raised more than $1.5 billion. Megan is a Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree in Venture Capital, a Signature Block Emerging 50 Venture Capitalist, Susa Venture Fellow, and member of Global Women in VC. She has been featured as a speaker and advocate for the API community by TechCrunch, Forbes, CNBC, ABC, AdWeek, NYU Stern, Chicago Booth, Yale School of Management, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and more. \n
Prior to founding Gold House Ventures, Megan led venture capital investments at the Johnson & Johnson family office and advised institutional and family office clients at Morgan Stanley in New York.
