Education

Pat has lived in the US, Mexico, UK, and Israel, and has traveled extensively. He currently lives outside San Francisco with his wife, daughter, and two rescue dogs. A native of Vermont, he is an avid skier, cyclist, and trail runner. Prior to being a VC, Pat was a professional guitarist/singer/songwriter for seven years, during which time he released three CDs and toured nationally.

Professional

Pat Burtis joined Amadeus Capital in 2006 and is a Partner leading the firm's activities in Latin America. He led Amadeus' investments in Creditas and Descomplica in Amadeus IV Digital Prosperity Fund, and manages Amadeus V Latin America Sustainable Growth Fund, which is anchored by IDB Invest. Outside of Latin America, Pat has worked with Transmode (STO:TRMO) and Tobii (STO:TOBII), among others. In 2010-2011, Pat served as interim CEO and CFO of SaaS telematics company GreenRoad, an Amadeus portfolio company.

Pat began his career with five years in Bain & Co’s Boston office, where he advised clients in the telecoms, financial services, insurance, steel, automotive, PCs, and FMCG industries. After Bain, Pat was an independent consultant in the cleantech, health care, and materials fields. He also ghost-wrote more than 50 business articles. Additional past roles include Director of Finance and Operations for H2onsite, a California-based hydrogen start-up, and Practice Area Fellow at McKinsey & Co.

Pat holds a BA from Dartmouth College (USA) where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa, and a Masters from the Yale School of the Environment, where he focused on energy systems and climate change. Pat is an American citizen, speaks Spanish, and is learning Portuguese. He is a Kauffman Fellow (Class 11).

Fellowship

Pat served his fellowship in London with Amadeus Capital (jointly with Imperial College), mentored by the firm's CEO and co-founder Anne Glover. He is a member of Class 11.
