Pietro received his master's degree in business engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (Milan Institute of Technology). 

He is chairman of the Association of Italian Private Banks (Pri.Banks) and chairman of Endeavor Italy, a nonprofit organization that promotes impact entrepreneurship. He also sits on various corporate boards.

Pietro Sella is CEO of Sella Group, the parent company of Gruppo Banca Sella, a position he has held since 2004. Under Pietro's guidance, the Financial Group, founded in 1886, has scaled and is now renowned as the most innovative incumbent player in Italy, transforming its business model toward an open banking platform. 

Pietro is currently launching Sella Ventures, a venture investment company, and Fabrick, an open banking platform that also acts as a company builder and incubator. Fabrick also manages the Italian 'Fintech District,' the largest FinTech community in the country. 

In 2013 he established an accelerator to support innovation, and in 1999 he launched Sella's involvement in venture capital activity. 

Pietro joined Banca Sella as cashier in 1994, went on within the branch network, and in 1997 was assigned the task of establishing the private banking service of Banca Sella that has since reached '17B AUM. He soon launched the bank's online banking and e-commerce services'the first in Italy and currently the country's leader. With IT departments in Romania and India, Sella is the only Italian bank with an open IT architecture.
