Roald Sieberath
Roald has both a deep technical background (computer science engineer, UCLouvain), and a solid business training from Solvay Brussels School, Stanford (EPGC ; VC Unlocked), and Louvain School of Management (Exec MBA).
An avid MOOC learner, he keeps a fresh eye on sectors including blockchain and deep learning. He also teaches entrepreneurship as a guest professor at UCLouvain and at University of Namur.
Roald has been an entrepreneur since he graduated as computer science engineer back in 1992. He's been involved as co-founder, shareholder, and board member in a handful of companies that have done video streaming, mobile messaging, ebooks, elearning, Big Data, and business applications. He has raised an aggregate $18M of venture funding, including one failure, one exit, one IPO-bound.
Since 2015, Roald has been a Venture Partner for LeanSquare, a tech seed fund based in Liège, Belgium. He has a keen focus on Impact investing, on Deep Tech, and on leveraging the latter to improve the former. LeanSquare is part of Noshaq, a larger, evergreen fund investing ca. 120 M€ / year, with a portfolio of 300+ companies.
In the past 10 years, Roald spent considerable time coaching startups as part of several accelerators and incubators, including: Microsoft Innovation Center (Belgium), Nest'Up, StarTech, VentureLab, BeCentral, French Tech Culture, YunusSB (Tunisia), and MG Seed (Brazil).
Roald helped set up an AI coding bootcamp franchise. He co-founded BeCentral, the largest digital skills space in Europe, located above Brussels Central Station, home to 40 startups, advocacy groups, and training centers including Google Atelier.
As a member of Class 23, Roald is serving his fellowship at LeanSquare, under the mentorship of Gaëtan Servais.
