Rob Freelen
Rob was born and raised on the Stanford University Campus, but in 2015 he and his family moved to Los Angeles and fell in love with Southern California. On the weekends Rob and his wife can be found with chasing their three daughters through the waves and up trails in the Santa Monica mountains. Rob has a B.A. in Psychology from Whitman College and has lectured at UCLA, USC, and Stanford on venture capital and venture lending.

Rob Freelen is currently Managing Director and investing partner at Sozo Ventures, co-founder of an LA-based FinTech company, and a former SVB executive. Since joining Sozo Rob has championed investments into 5 companies aiming to transform skin care, manufacturing, chemical-free farming, early stage cancer Dx, and inclusion through investments in Outer, Atomic Machines, Carbon Robotics, Mercy Bio, and Haus Labs. Prior to Sozo Rob was an executive at Silicon Valley Bank. During his 17 years at SVB Rob led Venture Capital Relationship Management, opened the Santa Monica office and led the Los Angeles region (‘15-’20), was the bank's first Chief of Staff, and spent about a decade leading business development for the west coast healthcare team.
