Shubhang Shankar

Shubhang has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where he headed the Literary Society and a Bachelor's in Electrical Power Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations from the University of London, where he received a commendation for the Historical Sociology course.

In his spare time, he is a voracious reader of works in the humanities and sociology fields, and counts Eric Hobsbawm and Perry Anderson as foundational influences on his worldview. He is currently making his way through the works of Max Weber to understand the linkages between innovation and cultural beliefs.

Shubhang is a Managing Director at Syngenta Group Ventures, the Corporate Venture Capital arm of the Syngenta Group, the world's leading Agri-inputs conglomerate. He currently sits on the Board of Ninjacart, Greeneye Technologies, Tarfin Ltd, Jai-Kisan and BioPhero, all leading startups in the AgTech space. Shubhang joined Syngenta Ventures in 2017 as an Investment Manager and became a Managing Director in 2019. His areas of expertise include Agri-fintech, emerging markets, digital and precision technologies and agri e-commerce. He is also involved in multiple strategic projects around innovation and business development for the parent organization.

Prior to joining Syngenta Group Ventures, he was a part of Syngenta's global strategy team where he worked on developing the company's strategy for digital agriculture and was first exposed to the fast-paced world of startups and innovation. Prior to Syngenta, he worked for 8 years as a Management Consultant across the Boston Consulting Group and Kearney in their respective India offices, serving clients in multiple industries on topics on strategy as well as large scale business transformation.
