Education

Sid holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Sid also earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania where he graduated at the top of his class. He currently lives in Singapore with his wife, a young daughter and a pet dog - Cavalier King Charles.

Sid is deeply influenced by the diversity of cultures and exposure he has had having travelled to ~50 countries to date. Sid grew up in India (till age 17, across 3 cities), then spent 5 years in the US before moving to Hong Kong for 3+ years at age 22 before returning back to the US to spend 2 years during his MBA. Following the MBA, Sid has spent the last 12 years in Singapore with very frequent travel across Southeast Asia.

Professional

Sid is a general partner at Argor Capital, a Southeast Asia focused, sector-agnostic venture capital fund. Argor has two offices - in Jakarta, Indonesia and Singapore and has raised two funds to date.  At Argor, Sid is an Investment Committee member and is involved on all aspects of running the organization - including fundraising, investing and overseeing operations. Sid sits on several boards of companies within the Argor Portfolio in the areas of B2B payments, Lending, Insurance, HR tech, FoodTech and EdTech.

Sid’s primary sectoral expertise is in fintech / financial services and he has spent the majority of his career evaluating, advising and investing in the sector. Prior to joining Argor in 2021, he spent ~7 years at Temasek’s financial services/fintech investments team where he was promoted to Director. At Temasek, Sid was a multi-stage investor where he evaluated and invested into a wide range of pioneering fintech business models across the world with several investments becoming iconic winners. By straddling the full spectrum (publicly listed to venture) in terms of stage, Sid developed a deep perspective in understanding what it really takes to build a long lasting, sustainable and profitable company across variou dimensions. Sid also played in instrumental role in the ideation and launch of a venture build led by Temasek which is Asia’s first greenfield sustainable infrastructure financing platform that operates as a JV between Temasek, HSBC and Asian Development Bank.

Prior to Temasek, Sid was a consultant at McKinsey’s Singapore office working with some of the leading enterprises and government linked organizations in Southeast Asia.

Sid began his career at J.P. Morgan’s Investment Bank focused on the financial institutions sector in Southeast Asia, based out of Hong Kong, having spent the first few years in New York City covering US financial institutions.

Sid was named “Singapore Silent Hero” in 2021, a national recognition, for his contributions to mentoring young social enterprises in Singapore.
