Tanguy Chau
Tanguy earned his PhD and MS degrees in chemical engineering, as well as his MBA in finance, from MIT. He was also a University Medal Finalist at UC Berkeley, where he completed his undergraduate studies.
Tanguy served on the Board of Directors for the Harvard COOP, and was elected to the MIT Board of Trustees in 2012. He has competed internationally as a member of the Belgian national sailing team and the Belgian chemistry Olympiad team.
Tanguy is a Venture Investor with Mayfield Fund in Menlo Park, California, focusing on the enterprise sector.
Previously, Tanguy was an Investment Principal with Formation 8, a $1B+ venture firm in San Francisco, where he focused on IT and diversified technology investments.
Prior to Formation 8, Tanguy managed teams and projects for McKinsey & Company's tech and healthcare practice in Palo Alto. Before that, he led energy investments with the Angeleno Group, a growth equity firm in Los Angeles. Tanguy also founded Sample6 Technologies (formerly Novophage), a synthetic biology company enhancing food safety.
A member of Class 20, Tanguy served his fellowship under the mentorship of Formation 8 founding partners Jim Kim, Brian Koo, and Joe Lonsdale.
