Tom Egan

Tom earned his BA in economics from Middlebury College. He spent his junior year abroad studying economics and finance at the London School of Economics and attended the Tuck Business Bridge Program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Tom brings a combination of operating experience, empathy for the entrepreneur, and a commitment to clear communication and knowledge sharing to all of his interactions with founders.

Tom is a Principal at LaunchCapital, where he leads investments in companies that use data to address large problems in technologically underserved markets. He is an active board member or observer with REsurety, Karmic Labs, and Gridcure, among others. Since joining the team in 2009, Tom has played an active role in leading diligence efforts, building out internal research processes, and developing investment strategies for LaunchCapital.

Prior to joining LaunchCapital, Tom was an Associate at Techstars. He started his career as a high school teacher before moving to an operating role at auctionPAL, a venture-backed startup.

As a member of Class 22, Tom served his fellowship at LaunchCapital under the mentorship of David Cohen, founder and co-CEO at Techstars.
